| Our Secure Training Centres (STCs) not only aim to meet developmental needs but through the use of individual assessment and care and management plans, provide young people with the support, guidance and opportunities to explore, identify change and control the reasons for their placement in secure accommodation.
The policies and aims of our STCs are derived from the principles of child care best practice and reflect the Every Child Matters Agenda:
- Staying safe
- Being healthy
- Enjoy and achieve
- Make a positive contribution
- Achieve economic well-being
The Centres have comprehensive child protection policies approved by the Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) of which the Director of the STC is a member. Any safeguarding issues are sent to the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) for investigation.
Detailed procedures are in place to convert these principles into practice. Effective supervision, line management, performance measurement, quality assurance, internal audits and external inspections
ensure adherence to these aims and principles. The STCs are inspected annually by Ofsted and their findings are published. Ofsted also carry out unannounced inspections.
Rainsbrook STC has an eight bed female Enhanced Unit and a three bed Mother and Baby Unit.
